Accountable Care Organizations - Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) are groups of doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers, who come together voluntarily to give coordinated high quality care to their Medicare patients.
Affordable Care Act - better known as "Obamacare", its mission is to provide "affordable and accessible healthcare" to Americans who need it.
Big Data - the term for a collection of data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand database management tools or traditional data processing applications
Business Intelligence (BI) Tools -  a type of application software designed to retrieve, analyze, transform and report data for business intelligence. The tools generally read data that have been previously stored, often, though not necessarily, in a data warehouse or data mart.
Cognitive Analytics - inspired by how the human brain processes information, draws conclusions, and codifies instincts and experience into learning.  Cognitive analytics offers a way to bridge the gap between big data and the reality of practical decision making.
Data Warehouse - a system used for reporting and data analysis. Data warehouses are central repositories of integrated data from one or more disparate sources. They store current and historical data and are used for creating analytical reports for knowledge workers throughout the enterprise.
Electronic Health Record - EHRs go beyond the data collected in the provider’s office and include a more comprehensive patient history.
Electronic Medical Record - An EMR contains the standard medical and clinical data gathered in one provider’s office.
Health Information Exchange - the ability to share health related information between multiple providers
ICD-10 - 10th and most recent version of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems
Strategy - a high level plan to achieve one or more goals under conditions of uncertainty.
